My dog is about 11 months old, she's a St. Bernard/Chow Mix. She hasn't eaten for about 3 days now. She threw up 3 times, but does not have diarrhea - also drinking only water, She won't even take table food if I try to entice her. I work at a vet so I do know these can be symptoms of the Parvo-Virus. But could it possibly be something else? A flu or a cold or something along those lines? It is my brother's dog and he is not financially stable, maybe there's something we can do at home?

Any information is wonderful -- thank you!

Have the dog tested. There are no home remedies for Parvo. You should know better. Could be worms. Won't know until dog tested. If he's not eating, don't wait. Dogs don't get the flu or colds.

You say you work at a vet... would you maybe be able to get someone to do the test for Parvo virus without charging him and deal with the costs of treatment afterwards?

This also sounds like when my dog had a stomach virus. Her appetite dropped to next to nothing, she wouldn't even eat her treats, and she threw up once or twice. My vet gave her a little medicine, and she recovered quickly. It may be something simple like that. Did the dog have all of its vaccinations?

If you work in a vet practise surely you would be in a good place to ask the vet to take a quick look for you and worry about the finances afterwards - dogs cost unfortunately

Doesn't sound like parvo, because of the lack of diarrhea, but, I'd still get him checked, I can only guess.
