Hi I am asking this for a friend but she dyed her brown hair blonde but the roots are starting to show. How should she redo her roots? Should she just put hair dye on the top? Or can she just put hairdye on her whold head ? She is afraid that if she just does the roots she will miss some and get some on the already dyed part. If she does will it make the part of her hair that is already dyed a different color? OR can she go get it done at a salon even though she dyed her hair herslf?

So in simple words, how should she redo her roots?

If she dyes her whole head will it be uneven? Because she is thinking about doing that.

I'm here, hun. If your friend's roots are dark, she will require a two step process (bleaching and toning) to first lift the dark color and then add the blonde color. If she can't afford to get it done at the salon, she can touch up her own roots herself with a color from the drugstore. There's a product called Clairol Nice and Easy Root Touch Ups, and it's designed to cover re-growth. It comes in different shades. Tell your friend to choose a shade that matches her hair color. Be sure to follow the directions on the box

Thank you! So she won't have to redo her whole head? Or can she? Wouldne that be easier?

She don't necessarily have to color her whole head. She can just touch up the roots. The process usually takes about 25 minutes. After the process is over, tell her to comb the color down from the roots to the ends of her hair. She can also use the left over color from the bottle on her hair. Once the color is combed down to the ends, leave it on for an additional five minutes. When it's time to wash the color off, be sure to rinse hair with lukewarm water until the water runs clear.

So. When she does her roots if she gets dye on some another part of her head that's not regroth and it is left on for 25 minutes plus the other 5 minutes will the area that got 30 minutes of dye that's not regroth have changed colors or would it match the rest of her head?

If she chooses a shade that's closest to her hair color when retouching her roots, it won't change other sections of the hair. She can apply the remaining color to her entire head for the last 5 minutes of the process. This will refresh the rest of her hair's color and make it look more vibrant.

Someone told me that I could put Cholesterol Cream on the tips of my hair, so that when I dye my roots, I won't get it on the rest of my hair... Is that true?
