Our gas, forced air furnace seems to go on and off too much. The blower goes on for 3 1/2 minutes, then off for 2 minutes, over and over again. Is that normal? I have read the manuals for the furnace and the thermostat. Both say that the heat anticipator on the thermostat should be set at the amp draw listed on the furnace. It is not. The amp draw is .5, but the thremostat is set to .15. Should I adjust the thermostat setting. Is it okay to make that great of an adjustment?

The only TRUE way to adjust a heat anticipator is with the use of a meter that will tell you what the combination of length of thermostat cable, and the gas valve will draw. All else is just close guess work. Here is a pic for you and info.
