Hi - I purchased a Hampton Bay ceiling fan (had not read your site first or likely would not have) that is flushmount for low celings. I did not realize that it was designed for this until I was ready to put it up, and I am now finding that I really need to drop this down a bit (since I have 10 1/2 foot ceilings).

I have been unable to find any kind of help from the makers of Hampton Bay, and I need to know if (a) I can add a down rod to this model and (b) what kind I need to buy. Any help at all will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Found my own answer -- opened up the box and found a piece of paper with a separate manufacturers name on it. Called them and -- as I feared-- this model CANNOT be used with a down rod. So, lucky me, I have to take it back and find something else. Hope this will be helpful to someone else. Thanks!

Sorry I haven't been back. I hoped our resident ceiling fan expert would stop by.

Glad you got it figured out. :)
Sorry the answer sucked. :(

This fan cannot be mounted with a downrod. It was less than $20, what do you expect?
