I have a yard machine Snow Blower 5 speeds and 2 reverse 24" blade and I think 7hp. I bought it this year from someone and it was hard starting and it boggs down when you start going through the snow and actually snow blowing. Would this be a problem with the Carburetor or something else? If it is with the Carb how do I fix it.

The first place I would look is the governor linkage. It needs to easily move the throttle on the carb. Spray carb cleaner there.

Remember to use at least the mid grade of gas and add Stabil to the fuel.

You (keepitsimplestupid) responded to my question about why my snow blower boggs down. Its a Yard Machine 5hp 22" with a Tecumseh HSSK50 engine. It is hard starting and it boggs down when you start going through the snow. It revs back up when you stop but is very slow. You said it could be the govenor, where would that be and is there anything else to adjust. Thank you

First, lets look at the governor.

Trace the throttle cable,

There should be a couple of springs. One is attached to the governor and the other to the throttle. The object is to maintain a particular tension on the springs. One placed by the throttle and the other by the governor. That's how the speed is maintained.

There should be some sort of "gizmo" attached to the carb that moves with the springs and the governor. That has to have very little friction.

The governor is just a flap inside the blower housing which is moved by the air of the flywheel blower.
