After losing an earring down our bathroom sink, I took off the "U" shaped pipe and was able to recover my earring. I also found a few other small metal objects in there. The sink had been running very slowly in the past month anyway despite multiple Draino treatments. I thought things would be moving along nicely now that I took these items out.

I replaced the U pipe securely, making sure all the plastic nuts were secure. I turned the water on in the sink and it was still draining very slowly. What's worse, I noticed the pipe going into the wall is now dripping!

Did my removing the other pipe cause the wall pipe to drip? Have I messed up everything? What do you suggest to fix it.

Thank you for your time.

I'm a little confused as to what you want. Stop the leak or open up the drain. Did you pull the stopper and shine a light down in there to see if hair has built up on the little rod that's sticking out? If you find the rod is clear then you must remove the trap and snake out the line inside the wall.
If you track the leak back you will find it comes from a compression nut that hasn't been tightened down enough. Good luck, Tom
