Today's Gospel (Jn 1:35-42): As John stood with two of his disciples, Jesus walked by, John looked at him and said, «There is the Lamb of God». On hearing this, the two disciples followed Jesus. He turned and saw them following, and He said to them, «What are you looking for?». They answered, «Rabbi (which means Master), where are you staying?». Jesus said, «Come and see». So they went and saw where he stayed and spent the rest of that day with him. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard what John had said and followed Jesus. Early the next morning he found his brother Simon and said to him, «We have found the Messiah» (which means the Christ), and he brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, «You are Simon, son of John, but you shall be called Cephas» (which means Rock).

This evening I went to Mass services and heard that gospel lesson.
Everyone is given a calling of some sort. Some have received several throughout life. Our calling many change as our life changes.
Sometimes it is difficult to determine what our call from God is.
When Mass was over I thanked the priest for answering his calling and service us.
:confused:Have you determined what your calling is?
:confused:Have you ever resisted what you felt was a calling?
:)Peace and kindness,:)

Strange, I thought I responded to this. But I don't see my response. Do you have more than one thread with this question?

I believe our main call is to love God in any station in our life. To love God and to do everything in our power to be united to Him.

If we answer this most basic of calls, God will guide our lives in the direction He wants us to go.

Yes!
Yes!
Does that answer your question?
Everyone has resisted Gods urging to do his work. Sometimes we try many things before God finally says to us that we are where he wants us.
That can mean the mundane such as finding the right church to attend or more like where to serve the flock. Can you be a teacher? Or how about an usher? How about a small group leader? Where does god want you? What are your talents? God can put our talent to good use within the body of Christ. But we must be open minded to go where God leads us or we will miss the opportunity because someone else will fill the need if you don't.

Strange, everyone is afraid of this question for some reason?

De Maria,
No I have no other thread on this question.
I'm a bit disappointed at the low response to it.
I think you are right about the "basic call".
But there are others that tie into it and the job descriptions are wide and varied.
In my case since I am pretty much house bound I feel my call right now is to participate here as best I can with the hope that I will be of help to others here.
Peace and kindness,
Fred
