I have a friend who is in County Jail. His public attorney is not helping much in his case. He is interested in firing his public attorney. Can he fire his public defender? Can he get a new public defender assigned to his case? What does he need to do?

Hi, mariarc!

Until someone comes along to personally address your question, you might want to look at the bottom of this page to questions that have been similar to yours to see what some of the answers have been.

Thanks!

Write a letter, copy to the Judge, asking that PD be removed. No guarantee someone else will be appointed. You may be advised to retain your own counsel.
