My first thought would be a virus. Easiest fix is to reformat.

Repair Installation
A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.

After a repair installation, I would download and use malwarebytes, you can use this without purchasing it

Malwarebytes.org (http://www.malwarebytes.org/)

And as mentioned above, after a repair installation, you would have to go back to windows updates and get updates again

Another thing that could cause this is an out dated BIOS. Go to manufacturer's site and see if there is an BIOS update for your computer.

Something would have had to happen, BIOS won't just stop working one day when it worked day before

Something operating system related

It can happen. A friend's computer kept rebooting after being down for a few minutes, after flashing the BIOS, everything was fine.

Hi, terence1767!

Mine does too, especially if it's too cold where it's located.

Just a thought, in case that might be the situation...

Thanks!

Sometimes I read things and just can't help but chuckle.

Even if it's true... "Reformat" and "easy"... that's very funny.

Check out your SMPS and processor. One of them might be corrupted.

Can you get into Safe Mode? Hit F8 when the computer is starting.

If you make it, then go into your SYSTEM PROPERTIES (ALT+MY COMPUTER), go to ADVANCED (tab), Startup and Recovery, Uncheck "Automatically Restart".

What this does is give you a BSOD or "Blue Screen of Death" with information that will help narrow the problem down.

Good luck!
