So last week my computer booted to a blue screen saying "unmountable volume"

I tried to put in an XP disk and do a restore but it was giving me more errors telling me to check if it was properly plugged in.

I am in a IT class as my high school and my teacher let me bring it in to run as a slave on one of the computers here, just so I could get my documents folder off, then format it

When plugged the first time it was not recognized, restarted and it was showing up fine. When trying to open it it was saying

"D:\ not accessible
error preforming inpage operation"

We tried doiung a chkdsk d: in the cmd prompt

Now we are just looking for file recovery programs..

I really need to get my documents folder off my HD then I can format it

Anything you guys and galls can offer will help out greatly.

Thanks

Go to Free Software Downloads and Reviews - Download.com (http://www.download.com) and download
PC Inspector File Recovery 4
It is a free program with no limitations and works with all OS.
Suggest you download to a jump drive. Put drive into USB port, start your computer and download and install the program then follow All instructions. Good Luck.

If it will not be recognized as slave drive, set the drive to
Cable Select (CS)
