I have a GE upright freezer approximately 5 years old that is not freezing, the light comes on but no cooling at all. What do I need to replace? If it is the compressor can I get the coolant with out a license, and do I need special tools to charge it?

First you better test the cold control or jump it out to see if the unit will run before you talk of replacing the compressor..
