I'm a visitor from japan in vancouver.
I went to the winners in vancouver today and got caught stealing undies. (not worth it)
Total was around $30 (totally not worth it)
The winners investigator didn't call the police (thank god)
But he gave me the 'notice of intended legal action'
And told me that I'll receive a mail later.

1. how long would it take for me to receive the notification?
2. how much would the fine be approximately?
3. do I HAVE to pay the fine? What if I don't pay it and return to japan?
4. if I don't pay it, then is it true that I won't be able to come back to canada?

I'm worried sick here and need someone to talk to asap.

It will take as long as it takes - no way to know how busy the Police/Courts are.

No way to know what the fine would be.

Yes, you have to pay the fine. You were stealing. It's your punishment. If you go back to Japan there's a good possibility you will skip out and not get caught. There is also a good possibility a warrant will be issued for you for failure to appear. If you think stealing underwear was a mistake, wait until you see what happens when there's an open warrant on you.

And, yes, they won't want you back in Canada.
