The IACV is located on the backside of the throttle body:

You shouldn't have to remove the distributor to get to the ECT Sensor. Just use a good light and you shouldn't have any problem. Yes, it can greatly affect idling if it's failing.
The thermo valve is located under the throttle body--it's not serviceable. Has wax inside that affects air flow, when it melts.

I love the computer and all but find it better to have a conversation on the phone when it comes to problems with vehicle. I'll give you my number and email I'm from edmonton alberta canada and I am a used car dealer, I have an apprentice mechanin working for me and he's great to switch parts or anything like that but can't really diagnose a vehicle so again I do appreciate all the help with this.
