I have a 2 handle Moen kitchen faucet. Not sure of the age, probably 5 yrs or a little more. The spout has a lot of play in it and has begun to leak around the base of the spout out the TOP of the decorative locknut. I have replaced the plastic retainer clip under this nut as well as the o-ring right below it. No luck. I noticed there is a groove in this retainer that contains a split plastic ring with what looks like the remains of teeth on it. Definitely worn by looking at it. Question: I've searched all kinds of parts web sites, including Moen themselves, but don't see this in any diagrams. Is it possible to but just this part, or do I need to spend $30 + on an entire spout. Also- your thoughts on whether this is even the problem. Thanks a lot.

Before I would spend $30.00 on a new spout I would invest that much into a new faucet. But first I might try repalcing the O-rings again before I bought a new one.

The split ring you speak of can be tricky. It is possible that you have not reassembled spout assembly correctly. The spout should go down over the split ring completely. May have to have another person handy to push the split ring together while pushing the spout down and over the ring.

Once again, you should not be able to see the split ring at all once spout is properly set. There will only be a space large enough to fit a thumbnail in, between bottom of spout and trim. Please let me know what you find.
