Over the summer, I had the flooring replaced. The handy man unhooked and rehooked up the ventless gas logs. Since then I have turned the gas off behind the logs to move them out to paint. Do I need to check for gas leaks when I turn the gas back on? Also, plan to vacuum and blow out pilot light and flame area prior to lighting. Is there anything else I need to do and is this safe for a homeowner to do on their own?
Thanks for all advice

Check for gas leak,, yes would be good,,
Clean,, yes would be good
Check again after you reconnect for gas leak pryer to lighting,, be safe and good luck
