Hi There, I am doing business of IT consulting under a LLC company for last few years. I want to start a new business activity of Tax and Management consulting under the same business name. My question is :-

Can I just start the new business?
Is there any other compliance that I need to fulfill before I start the new activity?

Kindly advise

Thank you in advance

Hello K:

Every corporation I ever started was limited to ANY legal business enterprise. Unless you need a new license from your county or state, your corporate status should be fine.

I would check with a CPA, however.

Hello Excon,

Thank you.

I am in NJ. Do I need any separate license from the state? What I need to do to start such tax consulting service to individuals, parterships, and corporations . Kindly advise. Thank you once again

Unless you get to the point of providing legal advice or representing a client in court, you do not need a license to provide tax advice for a fee. But you do need to be careful. Bad tax advice can bring lawsuits from clients or investigation by the government.

More-or-less correct, but remember: a LLC is not a corporation. It's more like a partnership with limited liability thrown in.

Same answer that Excon gave to Kumar1111. Yes. Your LLC can do multiple businesses just as long as it has any required licenses.
