Hi guys. I have a heat pump/furnance unit and it has been working great but I have noticed in the past week that the duct attached to the furnance/blower in our garage is sweating a little bit. It has been very hot lately so I have a feeling that its just from the humidity it the garage, but do you guys have any idea on what I can do to fix this. There is only about a 3 foot section of the duct that runs from the furnace to the ceiling but for some reason this section of duct was not wrapped its just out in the open. I have called the hvac company that installed the system but they just said its something I am going to have to deal with since the unit is in the garage. Any ideas on what I can do to solve the problem?

Just go to your local HVAC store or Home Depot, buy some suitable insulation, and wrap the duct. That will solve the condensation problem and save you cooling $.

Ok, I thought you guys might need a good laugh. I went by Home Depot today and they said they didn't have the type of insulation I needed, so I called the HVAC company that installed the unit back. I told them I needed to have the duct wrapped so mold would not grow on the wall. The lady responded with " I dont think they will do that, if we wrap it then it will just sweat even more". It was about all I could do to keep from laughing. On the bright side they did call back and said they will come out tomorrow and wrap the duct.

if you cannot find the actual duct wrap... could use hotwater blanket, with reflector shield,or 2x4 fibreglass drop ceiling panel
