Who was the first original artist to write the love song I swear? It may even be called and I swear. I'm not sure of the correct title or artist all I know is that my son is getting married and I loved this song as I was hearing it growing up and I always thought it was so perfect. All I know is that it says and I swear by the moon and the stars in the sky

As far as I know, it is originally by the group Boyz II Men.

Later it was covered by John Michael Montgomery.

It actually was all 4 one who did I swear.

Them and john michael both did it in 1994. I am not sure which was first :)

"I Swear" was originally recorded by John Michael Montgomery in 1994 and became #1 on the American country music chart, and also won a Grammy for Best Country Song. It was later a crossover hit for the group "All-4-One"
This song was written in 1987 by Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers (who later became country duo "Baker and Myers") These grammy winning singer-songwriters went on to record their own album and had some singles.
The song remained un-recorded for 7 years.
