Hello,
2 years ago after I give birth to my baby girl I got on the IUD (the copper one I believe, for 10yrs). My Gyn at the time inserted the IUD.

I recently changed heath insurance and was referred to a new GYN doc. When I visited him4 months ago for my routine check-up he was schocked that my pervious GYN doc allowed me to have the IUD. My current GYN doc told me since I have a history of an utopic pregance (I lost my left fallopian tube due to the utopic preganancy) my previous GYN wasn't suppose to give me the IUD.

I still have the IUD inserted in me, should I have it removed? What are the risk in having an IUD when you had a history of an Utopic pregancy?

I believe you're thinking of "Ectopic."

Check out this site, it may help:
Birth Control - IUD (http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/iudinfo.htm#cautions)

An Intrauterine Device (IUD) is a small object that is inserted through the cervix and placed in the uterus to prevent pregnancy. A small string hangs down from the IUD into the upper part of the vagina. The IUD is not noticeable during intercourse. IUDs can last 1-10 years. They work by changing the the lining of the uterus and fallopian tubes affecting the movements of eggs and sperm and so that fertilization does not occur.

Personally I would have it removed and go with an alternative. I imagine the concern your doctor has it that you have an increased risk for another ectopic pregnancy from a couple of standpoints. A previous ectopic, and the removal of one of your fallopian tubes. Having an IUD just adds to the possibility that a potential pregnancy, while it is in place, may result in another ectopic.
