I'm hearing draining noises from what seems to be a weird place... they seem to be coming from behind the toilet when the sink is draining. :confused:
Is it possible that the sink drains to a point right behind the toilet? Or maybe the main drain is backed up and there's an overflow pushing drain water that way?
My kids bathroom is pretty small. Just room for one person to stand in it. There's a tub/shower combo, a toilet and a single sink. Up on the roof above it is a single drainage vent. For size references, there's just enough room for the toilet between the sink and the tub - with only about eight inches of space between the toilet tank and the sink or tub on either side.
The sink drains a bit slow - mainly from the kids putting everything from toilet paper to food crumbs down it. After running some water in that bathroom this morning, I heard the sound of slowly draining water coming from what seemed to be right behind the toilet. I put my ear on the wall and listened - and seemed to confirm my suspicions. I had to go to work - and nobody was going to be using that sink today, so I waited until I go home tonight to check again... I get the same perception that the draining sounds are coming from right behind the toilet.
Not sure if this will help the experts, but my house is a single-story on a slab on grade foundation, built in 1998 and is located in San Antonio, Texas. I did pull away the toe molding on the wall opposite the bathroom (since the bathroom is so small and filled with stuff) and the sole plate and sheetrock were both dry.
