I had a sewer enjector installed in my basement for an apartment. I am now having prolems ever since the contractor came back to install a trap. The enjector was installed right next to my heating furnace so when the furnace turns on which is forced hot air. My upstairs stinks like sewage. This happens mainly when my son is showering downstairs & the pump is kicking on a lot. I have no idea what to do. I had the contractor come back and all he did was put some caulking around the top of the pump. I hope some can help me I can not stand the stench & I guess the idiot I hired doesn't know what he's doing.

Thanks

I had the contractor come back and all he did was put some caulking around the top of the pump. Wait a minute here! Are you saying the pump is in a open pit or one that can't be sealed and all he did was caulk the pump? The pump should be in a sealed and vented pit. This pit vent should be a dedicated vent and not tied back to a house vent. Let me know. Tom

Tom,
I think he originally had cement covering the pump but he had to do something to it & never replaced the cement covering. All he did was caulk around the edge. The vent is going outside the house it's not directly into the house pipes.
