Hello I am 19 years old and I am a freshman in college. I think that I may be pregnant. Two days after I had intercourse I was bleeding and I bled for about two-three days and then it stopped. So I thought that it was my period about two weeks later I was bleeding again and it was only here for about two days. I have been naueous and I have hot flashes frequently. I don't believe that's normal for a 19 year old. I also took two at home tests and they were negative but I am on birth control so I don't if that affects it. What do you think?

If that was the only unprotected intercourse you had, you're probably not pregnant. Although, if you're on birth control, you might want to call your doctor about the odd bleeding because you should have pretty regular cycles on the pill. Sometimes the pill gives you almost pregnancy like symptoms too, so that could be part of this.

But it's always a good idea to talk openly with your doctor when you have concerns.

Like GirlWSlingshot said, while pregnancy is always a possibility, odds are that you aren't pregnant since you were on birth control... which can cause some breakthrough bleeding for some women from time to time. Birth control pills won't effect the pregnancy test. See how you feel over the next few days, you may be fighting an illness. See your doctor if you are still ill. Maybe try another pregnancy test in about a week or wait and see what happens with your next period and test at that time if your period is still off.

Spotting is a side effect of most birth control. I believe it is most likely you're not.

Though, if for any reason you believe you are pregnant, I'd air on the side of caution and recommend taking a pregnancy test.
