Hello,

I have a new home, built in 2003, with Central Heat and Air. It's all run off electricity and is using a Lennox Model CB29M-41-1P heat pump.

The WHITE ROGERS DIGITAL HEAT PUMP THERMOSTAT 1F89-211 used the following wires:
White
Red
Brown
Orange
Yellow
Green

They were connected to C, W2, R, G, O/B, and Y on the White-Rodgers thermostat.

In the Hunter booklet it only talks about 4 or 5 wiring diagrams, although it has the option to hook up 6 wires.

On the thermostat there are the following options to hook up too:
W, RH, RC, G, Y/Y1 and O/B

If I hooked up White to W, Green to G, Yellow to Y/Y1 and Orange to O/B, that would leave Red and Brown with RH and RC remaining.

Is my current setup correct and can I assume I can hook up the Red to RH and the brown to RC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The A/C power is currently off until I find out what I need to do.

Thanks

Yes you should do no harm in connecting the way you mention, and I believe it will work fine.

I've been doing some more reading up and I think I'm going to look @ the air handler to see how it's wired up. From what I've been reading there isn't much info on the "BROWN" wire.

Well Brown was hooked up to C on the air handler. I'm not getting any power through when I put on the thermostat, it's running off battery.

I removed the jumper wire which was going from RH to RC, as it said to do for a 5 wire setup. Do I need to add this back to get the system to power on? I'm sort of lost now.

Ok I figured it out. I had a couple of problems. I threw the breaker on the small transformer inside the unit. It looked something like this: http://www.cozyparts.com/Lennox-Parts/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=21J05 - The silver part on the left is where you reset it. Mine was a button I just pushed. It was showing white and I put it to black and then when I touched Red and Green the fan did come back on.

It turns out the Brown wire on the Air Handler is for Common and is not used on the Hunter Thermostat.

So my 6 wires now only needed 5.

W, RH, RC, G, Y/Y1 and O/B

WHITE - went to W (HEAT)
RED - went to RH jumpered to RC with the supplied jumper wire. (24V Power)
GREEN - went to G (FAN)
YELLOW - went to Y/Y1 (COOL Air Compressor)
ORANGE - went to O/B (On my thermostat you need to set it to either O or B on the backside of the unit. On my old unit they had it to O, so I set it to O. If you leave it as default the A/C doesn't kick on just Heat. I believe this is for Single Stage Heat Pumps, as this is for the Reversing Valve.
BROWN - NOT USED (COMMON = C, Not Used on Battery Powered Thermostats)

I did what anyone else would do, I read the manuals and I called a buddy who knows more about this stuff than I do, as I have the knowledge of a 8 year old, but I can fix just about any computer. =)

Hope this helps someone else.
