I am painting the outside of my house, myself. I finally chose an exterior color that I like however I have tried 3 different accent colors and none of them look good at all. I am tired of painting and need to finish this project up before it gets too cold to paint. My roof is red, brick is brown/tan. The house when I bought it was yellow and green and that HAD TO GO. I used a Ralph Lauren Brown on the exterior and have tried a beige, gray and red trim with NO luck. Help me please. I can forward pic's if requested. Thank you!

I would go with neutral earth tones.

I think so you too. You can't go wrong with earth tones and I would think the brown and red would look good to. I would try a tan but perhaps you just didn't have the right tan?

I think these colors look good and sound somewhat like what you are going with About.com: http://www.valsparatlowes.com/coordinate-colors/color-by-architecture.html (http://architecture.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=architecture&cdn=homegarden&tm=5&f=10&su=p284.9.336.ip_p504.1.336.ip_&tt=3&bt=0&bts=1&zu=http%3A//www.valsparatlowes.com/coordinate-colors/color-by-architecture.html)

I like cream colors, sages and slate greys or slate blues.

Hope the pic is attached, please advise if not. This was the color when I purchased it. No new pic's at work with me.
