Hello all!

I am 21 years old. All my life I have taken great care of my teeth... you know, brushing twice a day and eating heathly. I had braces and everything when I was younger.

So about 2 or 3 years ago I switched to a dentist that takes adults. Both my grandparents, aunt and mom go to this same dentist. Apparenly, he's really great.

Anyway, every time I go in there, they say I have a 'pinhole' cavity that needs to be taken care of. They ask me every time.. 'do you drink soda? Chew gum a lot? Eat sticky snacks?' and always the answer is NO. I mean yeah sometimes, but its not like its part of my diet. I work at a gym and I work hard to stay somewhat healthy. I chew gum but its sugar free.

The dentist and I cannot figure out why this is happening... maybe I need to brush longer? In this past yr I even started flossing more often! So I don't no what it can be!

THE ONLY THING I can come up with is this: When I am away at school (the past 4 yrs) I kind of party a lot. I drink and I smoke ciggs a bit.. I used to smoke a lotta ganja too, but I don't anymore. I know smoking causes all sorts of stuff to your teeth... but I always brush!! UGH I'm so fustrated. Can someone help me?

Thank u!

Maybe you just have weaker teeth than normal. The braces could had helped that weakness

I took good care of my teeth and right when I got braces, and got them off, I started getting cavites..

I suggest that you go to another dentist to see what they say.. Sometimes dentists try to screw people out of their money.

I also suggest no more smoking.. are you a habitual drinker/smoker?

Also, what is ganja?

Are the "pin holes" on the biting surfaces of the teeth only? If they are, you could ask the dentist to place pit and fissure sealants on the remaining unfilled biting surfaces. You could also try to use a remineralizing toothpaste such as Oravive or X-Pur or any other toothpaste that contains NovaMin
