When the furnace kicks on and the gas begins to flow the gas ignites initially but the pilot light is blown out and the flame dies but the furnace keeps on running and just blows cold air. If I keep a match burning in the pilot light area the gas will restart a couple of times and then works just fine until next start up when the pilot is blown out. Can I adjust something and get a stronger pilot light. I have replaced the thermocouple recently.

Could be partially plugged pilot orifice, or bad heat exchanger, or , or , or, need more info.

How strong is the pilot flame? Is it just barely burning, or is it covering the thermocouple well.

I have a similar problem, but it's a little scarier; whenever my furnace comes on after a rest it fires up with a mini explosion that blows out my pilot. I recently replaced the gas valve and enjoyed a short respite from the problem, but now it's back. Any ideas?
