I was on probation from 1993 to 1998 for theft I thought I was done , now in 2007 I was arrested fot possession with intent to share within a 1000 feet of a school zone I was put on 2 years probation , then I was told I never finished my probationn from 93 because I still owed 4,000 in fines so they put me on probation as well to pay it off within the 2 years, now I had a complaint against me for a bad check that I received from an employer and my PO gave me a VOP I have a court date this month he said he is going to recommend state prison , what are the chances of that , and as for the complaint it was dropped because it was not my fault, what will happen?

I don't know the legal answer to this but with it being dropped because it was not your fault I don't know how they can use it as a VOP to send you to prison.

Hello md:
There's no way to tell you what will happen. NOTHING is written in stone at this point. There are still lots of possible outcomes, many of which are still under your control. To assure the best possible outcome, I'd hire a good criminal attorney.

I really don't think the previous probation was dropped as they would have been certain that you had paid your fines in full before cutting you loose. $4,000 is a LOT to overlook.
You'll just have to find out at your VOP hearing shortly what the judge wants to do with you. My guess would be pack your toothbrush.

Yes it seems to me that you assuming the fine was paid up is most likely what would cause you problems. You need to try and get an agreement to start payment and keep it up.
