Hi there,
I drive Golf 1.4i chico 2000 model. My car finishes battery every time I put the new one in and was advised to change the regulator on the Alternator but still the same problem and some time just loose power when driving. Can any one advice on the problem?
Thanks

. Clean battery terminals, cables, and ground with abrasive cloth. Afterwards, apply a light coat of dielectric grease.
. Test all underhood and underdash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

Be very thorough. Remove fuses (one at a time), clean with abrasive cloth or steel wool, apply light coat of dielectric grease, and reinstall. Make sure you reinstall each fuse in the proper slot.
. Check battery voltage with a multimeter:
1. Check for 12.0+ volts across battery terminals (with the engine off).
2. Check for 14 to 15 volts (with engine running).
If the voltage reading is less than specified charging voltage, check all underhood power distribution fuses and any megafuse in the engine compartment (may be located at the end of the underhood fuse box). If any fuse is blown replace it. If the fuses are OK, replace the voltage regulator. Since you have already replaced the voltage regulator, the problem may reside elsewhere in the alternator. Using your judgment, you may need to replace the alternator.
. Check for overnight battery drain:
