Please provide some more information. How old is the cat? What are the symptoms (be precise)? When did they begin? What changes have you noticed and when? You need to give us something to work with.

Sounds like you really do need to get your cat to the vet for an examination. We can only guess what might be wrong on here.

If you can't afford the full payment to a vet, then maybe you might be able to make payment arrangements so that you could pay a little bit over a period on a regular basis.

Wouldn't hurt to ask the vet about that. I've done that a number of times.

One thing that my rescues often have that looks like a cold in their eyes is actually Chlamydia that gets passed on by the mother or close contact with another cat. It is treatable with a simple antibiotic. I got in two rescues in November that were so sick that they both had developed respiratory infections, AND the little female's eye was ulcerated.

I AM NOT SAYING that is what is going on with your little guy, but I am saying that a little timely intervention by the vet can save you and your kitten A LOT of problems later. Note: Kittens are very fragile for at least the first 8 to 10 weeks. If your baby is that young, please do not wait.

Call to see if your local humane society can refer you to a vet that has reasonable rates. Check with people you know, most pet owners will have an idea of who the most expensive vet in town is, and who they do and do not trust.

Totally off-the-wall idea: Call a local (independent) pet rescue to see if they get discounts at the vet that they will allow you to make use of, or if they have donors that will sponsor some vet fees in order to help you keep your cat out of their rescue. I sometimes pay to get local cats fixed that are not in my rescue, so that I do not get their litters in. My vet gives me a 10% discount.
