My question is Does Connecticut automatically adjust my child support when one of my sons turns 18 or do I have to file a motion for modification?

Never assume anything even if its written into law. If your child is approaching the age of majority and your paying through a child support agency and within 6 months of them turning 18 ( and that's what it states in your court papers as a stopping point ) then notify them to get the ball rolling. If you wait you might be asked to continue until everything " clears " the system and won't have any chance of recovery.

In a perfect world the agency would know when support stops and automatically stop it.
Since we live in an imperfect world I would contact them, inform them that your child will soon reach the age where your support ends and ask what needs to be done to stop payments.
Are you sure that support will end on his 18th birthday? Many support agreements extend until the end of schooling.

I wouldn't take a chance on this - someone posted recently that he "assumed" his child support obligation would stop (it was a payroll deduction), it did not, he couldn't get his money back.
I would call the Court that issued the Order and ask - in the meantime, if you pay direct and are positive you can adjust the support downward, simply stop sending the check.
Is your support ordered until the age of majority or is there an education provision - ?
