Multimedia Audio Controller is listed under my hardware tab in my Contol Panels Sounds and Audio Devices, but it says that it can't be found. I've tried to downlaod it but it downloaded a program called Driver Detective and they want $29.95 to fix my driver problems. I can't afford it. I thought it was a free download. What do I have to do to get sound from my computer? Why is this so difficult? What am I missing here? Please Help.

It's not difficult. Use a search engine. Put the exact name of your audio device in. Then put the words driver. Then search. You basically want to go to the manufacturer's site and download the driver from there. You could put the whole string in such as XYZ HypedUp 123NXZ driver. Usually the manufacturer has a site where you can download the drivers. I do it all the time but I try to use the manufacturer's site and not some knock off site that wants to charge for the downloaded driver.

If it's listed in device mgr and there is no yellow mark next to it, your sound driver is installed, there is something else up with your sound then

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any software or hardware that you installed or setup.

What OS
