Filed an expungement for 3 old cases (3+ years old) in CA. Auto burglary in '92, domestic violence and assult in '05. No probations. Judge denied the expungement request, gave no reason. I don't know why. I wrote the judge a letter asking, got no response. Can I refile or appeal? Any suggestions?

You can't appeal when you don't know the grounds for denial. I wouldn't attempt an expungement without an Attorney - have you consulted with one?

No I have not consulted attorneys because I am not able to afford one.

Well, the good news for me is that when you are being reamed, I am not - only one member can be reamed at a time.

I think the reason the judge denied the expungement was due to the fact it was not a single felony but several different charges over a course of several years. Usually it's only one expungement to a customer involving one felony. At least that's what an attorney I used to work for in Ohio would tell his clients. Maybe California is different. Don't know.
