I live in an apartment in Minnesota. We have a furnace/ac unit in the wall of our apt. When it got very cold a couple of weeks ago, we started having problems with something never turning off within the system. I think it's the blower... for a while, you could still turn it on and get heat. When the blower kept going and we stopped getting heat from it as well, I called the maintenance man. The pilot light had stopped working and we could smell natural gas, so I had turned off all electricity to the unit and turned off the gas. The maintenance guy put in a new motor, and it works fine. But the blower is always running still, even in the off position. He's been here twice and either doesn't understand the problem or doesn't think it's a big deal. It still turns off and on as needed, and you can hear a noticeable difference in when the unit is on and off, but there is still a low hum of the motor or blower running after the unit is in the off position. Is this dangerous? Should I have him come back again? Thanks so much for any info.
