My wife's eMachines rig won't fire up. I've been reading through various sites, it doesn't look promising. Here's what's going on:

She tried to shut the machine down the other night and it made a louder-than-usual "disconnect" sound and all the front indicator lights started flashing at high frequency. Would not turn off.

I opened it up yesterday and found that the power supply is on and blowing air, the motherboard indicator light is on, the CPU fan is going, etc. The monitor displays a "self-test OK" message, but is obviously getting no signal.

I suspect the power button itself; the little blue ring around the power button is not on.

The power button will not turn the computer off either, I have to hit the circuit breaker on the power strip.
Everything on the motherboard LOOKS OK, but I know that doesn't mean much. There are no add-ons or extra cards, the machine is box-stock.

Have you tried turning it on and off again :)

I'm not a computer genius but if that's happening id be looking for a new computer it wouldn't be worth it, unless your still in your warranty then your in luck :)

Is this what comes up when you turn on PC? No monitor signal or No signal?

Well in my opinion your power supply could be the culprit. The Fan can still work on the power supply even though it is potentially dead. However given that everything is still working but the video you could have a bad video card. If it is a built in card on the mother board it is not good. There is still hope though. You can buy or borrow a card to put into a agp slot or other PC 123 accessory slot. Your PC is not responding to the power button being pushed? I don't know. Is the hard drive light on? Do you hear clicking from the hard drive indicating it is read/writing? Not to bring your hopes down but my friend is now on her 3rd E-machine because of the mother boards failing .
