I have a GE fridge, side by side, about 5 years old. The icemaker does not shut off the water coming from the water line. When the icemaker is full, the water will continue to run, fill up the back part and freeze. Then sometimes it will run down to my fan an freeze up around it and you can hear the fan bear down under pressure.

I think I need a new fan, but I need to figure out how to make the water quit coming into the icemaker when it is full.

I had some trouble a couple of months ago with my defroster heating element quit working. I got another one and changed it out. It has started acting up a little since then. On a unrelated (maybe related note ,it might be due to the fan) sometimes freezer side will thaw out too much. The ice has been known to almost thaw completely.

It's of no MAJOR importance, as I have brought in my fridge from my building, but I do want to get it fixed as now that we're taking down Christmas stuff and trying to straighten up the house some.

Any help would be appreciated.

Happy New Year.

Remove the wires on the ice maker water fill valve in the rear of the refrigerator. If the flow of water does not stop the valve is stuck open. If the flow of water does stop the icemaker itself is bad since it controls the water valve.
