My daughter is almost 10 months old and I am currently weaning her from breastfeeding. Right now I only nurse her about once a day. I got my first period 6 months pp. After the first one, the next one came 32 days later. Then I got another one 11 days later. Now it has been 50+ days since my last period and I'm anxious about getting my period (I'm hoping to not be pregnant again right now.) I am not on birth control yet. I have taken 4 pregnancy tests (the last one a week ago) and they've all come back negative. If my period is this irregular and hasn't come back yet, could that mean that I didn't ovulate? Should I make a doctors appointment? I don't want to keep wasting money on pregnancy tests, is there anything I can do? Is it normal to not have a period for over 50 days?

It's anyone's guess. If you are having sex then pregnancy is possible.

Periods after pregnancy or nursing can take a while to get back on track. If you're really concerned then go see your doctor. Some women have back to back pregnancies without ever getting a period in between.

Good luck.

Is there a particular reason you are not using birth control if you are not wanting to become pregnant again? You have several options while breastfeeding if that was the concern.

Breastfeeding doesn't guarantee that you won't ovulate (plenty of breastfeeding women are surprised to find themselves pregnant not long after giving birth) and once you start dropping feedings, some women find full fertility comes back very rapidly... other women won't have regular cycles until baby has been weaned for awhile.

I agree with Altenweg... see your doctor to rule out pregnancy (it will ease your mind) and discuss birth control options if you are not wanting another baby just yet.
