I'm a convicted felon who wants to start my own business in the auto business, but I don't have the money to start.I also have a friend who did get his business license, dealers license who will help me with all the details.I was wondering how do I get a loan or grant for a small business.

There are no special "loans" and your friend would be in the business, and you would be working for him if he has all the licenses in his name.

But there are small business loans based on experience and other factors, and in some drepressed areas tax credits

Hi, jackewatt!

As mentioned above, there are no special loans just because someone has been convicted of a felony.

Once a person has done their time and paid their debt to society, they're free to go about their business just like everyone else. That would include applying for loans.

There is also a mind-set that you might want to pro-actively work to get out of in order to get ahead when working with people and that would be that you're a convicted felon. How about something like "former felon" instead?

Please do think positively! Ever onward and ever upward! You can turn your scars into stars if you try, but it's largely a matter of the choices that you make.

I wish for you only the best!

Thanks!
