We have the air conditioning for 12 years. One day in October, we find the air conditioning could not be turned on. Our neighbor came and asked us to replace the fuse. We took the fuse to the store and find the same fuse and replace it. Immediately, the air conditioning was able to be turned on. We were very happy. Since the weather was not hot, the air conditioning was not kicked on. When winter came, I set the thermostat to be on the heater. But it did not turn on. One the Christmas day, we tried to turn the air conditioning on by setting it cool, it did not turn on either. A new fuse was replaced for three times, the air conditioning kicks off for 2 seconds only. We are not sure, if there is a major problem. Should we need to reset the breaker before turn it on after replace the fuse? We would like to try before to call pro.

If the fuse is blowing as you say it is then there is almost a direct short circuit in the unit. I do not believe you will find anything you can fix so it looks like it is time to call for a professional HVAC contractor to see exactly what the problem is.
