I was recently charged with a misdemeanor assault charge. If I get convicted will I be able to still get a job with a law enforcement agency in Wisconsin? I was trying to break up the fight. It says this in the police report. The incident occurred in North Carolina

If it ONLY says that you were trying to break up a fight, then you wouldn't be charged...

If your FUTUR is important to you, then I would hire an attorney to fight THIS charge, because if you're found guilty, or you plead guilty, you may NEVER get a job as a cop.

But that's in the police report. The only reason I was arrested was because 10 days after one of the guys wanted to press charges. I just find it funny that after the guy says I was trying to break up the fight he said that I threw him on the ground and broke his arm. Yet some how he managed to go and get a gun and shoot at my friend

I don't think so. If the cops didn't think there was a crime, it wouldn't matter how much somebody wanted to press charges.

From my understanding you can still work in law enforcement if it isn't a felony but you may have to allow some time to pass before you apply for the job.
