I have a two year old Kenmore Bottom Freezer/Double Top Door stainless steel refrigerator. The evaporator fan failed and was replaced. The repair person indicated that this "failure" is very common and he replaces about twenty of these fans per month.

If this is accurate, why hasn't there been a factory recall for the evaporator fan in this type of refrigerator?

I plan to request re-imbursement for repair/replacement cost from Sears with a copy to the Consumer Protection Department of the State of Connecticut.

My question:

"Is there any way to determine the frequency of evaporator fan replacement in this type of refrigerator and have any other on-line questions focused on requesting a recall for the evaporator fans?"

Probably not unless you can get your states Attorney General to cause them to release the information especially since Sears manufactures NONE of there appliances themselves.
