I had an abortion on November 22nd a Saturday, and started Birth control pills on Sunday Nov. 23rd. I still have not had my period since the abortion yet. ON December 20th, 4 weeks later, I had unprotected sex with my significant other. And again Dec. 25th (yesterday).

I've been reading about how soon a women can ovulate after an abortion, some articles say 2 weeks, some say up to a few months. Does anyone think I may be in danger of pregnancy right now? My doctor told me the pills don't work until after I've used 2 packs. I had only gone through 1 pack when I had relations with my boyfriend on the 20th. How likely are my chances?

Any thoughts would be extremely helpful to me. Thanks

What pill are you taking? Did you read the insert that came with them? Often a month on the pill is all it takes to be considered safe, and many feel just a week or two provides enough protection where no other form of birth control is necessary.
Pregnancy is always a possibility, even if you had been on the pills for two packs, but odds are you aren't pregnant and your body is adjusting to being pregnant, having an abortion and suddenly not pregnant, and going on birth control.
Continue on your pill as directed and see what happens when your next period would be due. You can always try a pregnancy test or see your doctor if you want some peace of mind.

Your body is likely to be confused at the moment providing you have just had an abotion and gone on the pill. You just need to be patient until your body has settled down and become used to the pill. I'm sure there is nothing to worrie about but if you are having doughts then I advise you go and see your doctor or visit your local family planning clinit and they can give you peace of mind.
