Hi,

Iam a 29 year old married woman from India. Iam 30 weeks pregnant and right now at my mother's place which is 300 kms away from my home. The cliamte at this place is entierly adverse to my town's climate. I came here ten days back and was normal. But recently I am experiencing pain in my lower abdomen in the pubic area which initially started on right side and has spread on both the sides. This has become so grave that its difficult for me to walk or get up from bed. Moreover Iam not able to turn to my side while sleeping. The only change I made in my diet was that I had coconut water 4 times during the past one week and I also suffer from gastric problem. I would like to know whether this could be the reason or it is just natural during pregnancy or can there be any other reason. I will be visiting my doctor in a day or two. Iam experimenting with my diet I nthe sense that I now avoid all those items which leads to gastric problem. Help me with your advice / comments on this.

Regards
Vandana

Is it a constant pain or mostly just when you move? One possibility: Some women will experience what is called SPD (symphysis pubis dysfuction) during pregnancy or right afterwards. It happens when the hormone relaxin causes the pubic bone too have too much separation. Anytime you separate your legs, walking up stairs, getting in and out of bed, or in and out of a car, can be extra painful. It can even be painful to walk. Keeping your legs together when getting in and out of bed, for example, can help. Some women find wearing a pregnancy support belt helps or seeing a chiropractor or osteopathic doctor may help.
If it causes you concern, see your doctor about it... if that is not possible, give them a call.

Hi Doula,

Thanks for rthe reply. In fact I am facing all the discomforts which you have mentioned below. I seems I have to meet my doctor. The pain is not constant and it is felt only when I do any such activity as you have said. I hope this is not a big problem. I have not experienced any major change after pregnancy but his one is really bothering me. Hope I have some relief after I meet my Doctor. Thanks a lot.
