I have been browsing to buy some bedroom furniture for quite sometime & so had been noting prices at various shops. I had already seen something that I liked but decided to wait until the Jan Sales. However, these furniture are on sale now with additional 10% off (with the company where I had seen these previously at a much lower price!) The problem is that prices have now been increased & the company is claiming that it was previously sold at higher price which they were not! So, even with the 10% sale offer, I would still be paying a lot more than before the sale! Does it make sense & can companies legally do this & mislead customers? I was so looking forward to buyig them in sale & am really disappointed!

Hi, legacy78!

Since your question is more about some legal issue as to whether a company can deceive and/or mislead customers rather than just the purchasing of furniture, I moved your question over to one of our law forum areas where I'm sure that it will get much better attention and subsequently expert advice.

Thanks!

Hello l:

Companies can change their prices every day. The sales people can "puff" (that's a legal word) their products by telling you that you the price they're selling it for is the lowest you'll find, even if it's not true.

What they CAN'T do, is sell you something on sale for MORE than the sale price. It doesn't look like they were doing that, so I don't think there's a thing you can do...

Except, go make them an offer... Nobody is doing real good these days, and I hear offers ARE being accepted this Christmas season.
