I have a 42" MTD Lawn Tractor, I think it is a model 682. I try to start it and nothing, I just ran it last week and it was fine. Could the battery have died that quickly? What should I replace/check? Could the ignition switch have corroded and died? Is there a way to bypass it and check? I'm just looking for the best way to proceed rather than putting in new battery and switch and... only to find out that's not what's wrong. Thanks for the help.

Does it turn over? Jump the solenoid with the key in the on posistion (be careful, it'll spark so no combustibles on you.

Joseph,
Carry your battery and have it "load" tested. And a battery can go down quickly, especially if there are young children, forgetful adults, or grandchildren around.
