I* would like to paint my kitchen cabinets. They are particle board with a vinyl overlay. The only paint I casn find is Krylon spray, but I'm afrain of "runs" on the doors. How can I do it with a brush? Do I need a special primer? I have a gallon of porch & floor {Latex} enamel that I want to use as a top coat.

Light coats of spray are recommended.

This would limit the 'run' effect.

Are sure its vinyl? And not just a laminate facing or a plastic ? This could make a big difference on what paint you can use. Nothing much stick to vinyl for daily use that I know of maybe I am wrong. I am just thinking car seats, arm rest etc. If is truly vinyl they make a type of stains for that. They redo car vinyl car dashes with them The stain flexes better than any paint. Just maybe check into a car paint supply house and not the PEP boys or Advance. A real supplier of car paint and stains. Look at our bumpers now and the type of materials in them and what the do to "paint that" Check it out maybe.

I think Dulux do a paint range especially formulated for kitchen cupboard doors. Have you ever considered replacing the doors altogether? You may think it's expensive but I did it in my old house, it was a massive kitchen & it only cost me about £500 & it looked like a brand new kitchen. It would have been even cheaper if the cupboards had been a standard size as I had to have the doors specially made instead of just buying them "off the peg".
