My fiancé and I want to have a civil ceremony in Dallas, TX with just our imidiate families. However, we live in Des Moines, Iowa and I have a few questions.
Can we get married there even though we live in Iowa?
Do we have to apply for marriage licence first? How long in advance?:confused:
Do we just show up at the courthouse or can we make an appointment?
If we get married there, is it valid everywhere in US?

Sorry, I know some of these sound silly but I have no clue!
Thanks!

Yes, you can marry there

You will have to get the license in person at the court house. You can call prior to find out exactly what you need.

You show up to get your license, but you will need to find out what days and times the judge does weddings, most larger counties do them twice a day, others only once a day.

Yes a marriage is valid everywhere in the world.
