I found out that I have a septate hymen. I've been using tampons for the past two years, and found out that when I take it out, a piece of skin gets caught around the edge of the tampon. I figure that's what it is. My mom says not to self diagnose myself, but she hasn't felt it, obviously. I cannot get fingered with more than one finger, and I'm to scared to have sex in case it breaks. My mother is going to make an appointment so I can get it checked out, but I'm terrified of the gynos. I want it cut now. Is it painful to get it cut? And what happens afterwards, can you have sex immediately after, or do I have to wait like a month?

It doesn't hurt to get it cut and you'll be fine afterward.

Never self diagnosis, you won't feel it, they will numb/freeze it, and it should be OK in a few days, don't worry. Good Luck. Oh yes and DO NO try to remove it on your own, infection could spread like wild fire

Yes, the doctor who will be doing your female checks ( for the rest of your life) is you friend, they shouild be someone you will and can be open with for all your problems,

Not getting things checked is the worst thing a person does.
