Hello,

I have had a recurring problem when we feed our disposal something that it can't handle. The debris clogs at the trap or the T pipe. After clearing the debris I reconnect all of the pipes and test the for leaks I'm OK until I turn the disposal on with a moderate amount of water to clear. Then water leaks out of the connection between the disposal and the pvc pipe. I have tightened everything down and at one point I got to where I just got a little bit of water coming out, but never have I completely stopped the leak. A couple of years ago I had a plumber come out when the disposal and plumbing were still under warranty and he fixed the whole thing in 15 seconds. (literally)

There is a plastic gasket at the connection that I have pointed toward the trap at this point but turning it around doesn't seem to help much.

I have literally spent hours trying to fix this thing, any help would be most appreciated.

The v ery first thing I would check is the leaky connection. It sounds like you might have them crossthreaded. That would produce the situation that you have. Go back and check the connection for a crossthread. . Good luck, Tom

Thanks Tom.

I checked to see if I had a cross thread (I didn't) then I tried macking sure that the gasket was attached to the disposal outlet pipe and just tightned that connection to just snug. It appears to have worked. (we stll have a bowl under there just in case though...

Thanks again!

Speaking of threads. You don't put Teflon Tape or pipe dope oncompression nut threads. They don't hold pressure, the gasket does. Glad you're fixed up. Let us know if we can ever help again. TOM
