Here's my situation:
I'm single. My ex girlfriend and I are close friends. We dated in high school for a year and broke up but have remained close friends throughout college and afterward. I have always loved her even though we broke up years ago, because she truly is an amazing person and I'm glad that she's in my life.
Well, a month ago she broke up with her boyfriend of 2 1/2 years. She said that she wasn't getting anything out of the relationship and she called it off. Its funny because about a month before she broke up with her ex, she and I had dinner together and got to talking about a lot of things. We both admitted that there was and always will be love between us, even if we're not together and with different people. We also talked about the possibility of being together again someday and she said "believe me i've thought about it." I have had a few girlfriends since she and I broke up and she has had a few boyfriends, but I have always felt that she and I shared the strongest connection, more than any other woman I've been with.
Fast forward to today. She and I hung out last night at my place and just talked, that's it. Nothing happened, we didn't make out or anything, even though I really wanted to kiss her. I really wanted to, and I felt that she might want to as well, but we were talking about totally different things and out of respect for her and what she's been through over the last month, I didn't try to kiss her.
I would like to be with her again and we had talked about the possibility of getting back together if her and her boyfriend didn't work out. (At that time however, I didn't know they were having issues). She and I do have a past, and I would like to explore the possibility of having a future with her, but at the same time I don't want to hurt our friendship. I kissed her on the forehead last night as she left and she blew a kiss at me back, but nothing more, despite the fact that she placed herself really close to me as we were talking together.
I know I'm rambling, but bottom line is, I want to explore the possibility of being with her again, but I don't know what to do. She lives 70 miles away and comes into town to see family sometimes. I'm willing to drive up to her to see her so its not a problem for me. Any advice?
