Hey there UR929...

I need more information here.

When does the tub back up.. When using tub only? When using the sink? More details allows for a better answer.

Let me know...

Your waste pipes are clogged and need unclogged.

Please answer Marks questions. It may be as simple as taking the screen cover off the drain in the tub. There is most likely hair and soap-scum build up that you can remove with a pair of needle nose pliers. Also try plunging the tub. If the blockage is beyond the toe, then you will have to take off the overflow cover plate and stick a wet rag into the overflow pipe(preventing the plunge action from coming up the overflow pipe). Have someone hold the rag in place while you plung the tar out that drain. Please let us know if this works.

Here is a picture of what Mygirlsdad77 just presented...

You can also use a hand-held or electric snake to clear the drain by going down that same overflow pipe (see 2nd pic.).

You will run into resistance about 18-24" down the drain, but just need to spin snake and push at same time to get past the ptrap. Most likely if tub drain is clogged the clog is close.

Well it only backs up when I run the sink and I have to stop running the sink and it will go down. After it goes down I can run the sink normally .what can I do to fix this problem.

Remove trap, clean it. While there, clean the horizontal drain piece. Also, clean pop-up assembly. That's the area where body hair collects preventing free flow.

Milo...Just FYI, UR929 posted an earlier thread and is answering a question I asked him. The real issue here... I think... is that the sink is backing up into the tub.

NOW THE TWO THREADS HAVE BEEN MERGED!

How does the tub drain all by itself? Have you filled the tub say 1/2 way and tried to drain that? Does it take longgggg time to drain.

Let us know more... HERE!
